2016: Goals and Aspirations

It's a new year and it's an even numbered one!
I love even numbers and I feel that 2016 is going to bring great rewards, many challenges, and lots of joy.

I start my internship this year and with that brings up a lot of anxiety within me. I want to learn how to trust myself this year, to be grounded in who I am, and to believe that I am capable and worthy of this work I have been pursuing.

In this past year, I worked really hard to save my money so I could start paying for school out of pocket. When I started, I thought it was impossible but I was wrong. I was able to save $10,000 this year and I only need $2,000 more to pay for my last year of schooling completely out of pocket. Accomplishing this goal has inspired me to continue to save. I will be taking a pay cut this year, but I also know that I am in a place where I do not need more. I love to clothes shop, treat myself to a Starbucks, and shop the dollar section at target. And while I will miss doing those things, my goal is to live simpler and save more. My closet is full, my heart is whole, and I don't need much. My goal for saving this year is to continue to save around $500/month. I have not decide if this will go towards my wedding, my future house, or to apply to my current student loan debt, but either way the money will go to where it is needed most.

I am going to use this formula to help save my money!

And my final goal for this year is my health. I truly felt the benefit of taking care of my health this year and I want to try even harder to meet my healthy goals. More fruits and vegetables, working out at least 30 minutes four times a week, and listening to my body when it is fully, dehydrated, or in pain. While I would love to loose weight, my main goal is to just be healthy and be more conscious of what my body is saying to me.

September Goals

First off, let me just admit that I failed as a blogger this month.
I blogged a total of two times.
With vacations, long work days, and throwing myself into school work I just lost the time.
And I'll be honest, it was nice not to make this a priority in my life.
This is a space for me to simply share with others.
Maybe some day it'll become a business for me, but for now it's just my journal I'm sharing with everyone.

Okay Recap of August Goals:
August Goals

1.| No Starbucks!
I'm going to allow myself Starbucks on my trip to Washington D.C.
But I will make my espresso at home for this month.
Haha once again this never happens. I'll be sure not to make it a goal this month.

2.| Stick to my 30 Day Strength Builder challenge!
I am on week two this week and so far I'm going strong.
Other than a week of being sick, I am still finishing up my challenge!

3.|Get a head start on school work.
Just waiting on the syllabus to come out
I would say I worked hard and I got a lot of reading down. Hopefully the stress will be minimal this term.

4.| Save, Save, Save
I've got a Christmas plane ticket to save for and my wedding.
I'm going to do my best at avoiding my urge to new school year clothes shop.
I think I did good at this? Not a ton of side job money this month, but I did make $100 in poshmark sales so that helps!

September Goals:

1.| Stay on top of gym time.
After being sick for a week, I kind of lost the motivation to push myself to the gym, but I am determined to use the gym as a stress reliever for school.

2.| Watch what I eat.
Summer nanny meant eating out a lot and not focusing on what I ate. I want to be more conscious of what I am filling myself with and ensure it's energy boosting and only a cheat meal every once in a while.

3.| Enjoy the fall weather.
This is the season I love and I want to make the most out of it.

July Goals

First we have to start with a recap of June goals, right?

1. Avoid Starbucks/Caffeine

These two pictures pretty much sums it up.
Also my nanny family gave me a generous gift card to Starbucks so I'm blaming them.

2. Go to Zumba at least two times a week.
I would say I kind of did this, but I also bought a gym membership and began to utilize the gym more than zumba. So I'm giving myself an A+

3.Take Care of Myself
I say yes, but I need to work on the quality of food self care.
This last week has been pretty bad.

July Goals!

1. Avoid Starbuck's.
I am serious this time (just like every other time).
I am going to try really hard at using my espresso machine again and not wasting my money away.

2. Read 4 book's.
Summer is my favorite because I get to read books I choose to read.
So far I'm three books in and have a whole bag of books to read!
Currently reading:

3. Do my Bartender course from Groupon.
I bought a groupon to teach me how to bar-tend and barista.
I've been dying to learn both of these skills and am ready to serve up some yummy drinks!

4. Spend time with my brother.
Whom is coming in a week to Seattle for the very first time.
I am so excited!

June Goals

It has been a while since I've done a goals list.
This is the last month for summer term so life is going to be a little lighter starting very soon so why not add some goals for myself.

1. Avoid Starbucks/Caffeine
-Mainly, I got really bad last month of visiting Starbucks too much. I have done so well this year of not spending over a $100 a month on Starbucks and I am really proud of myself for that, but last month was bad. I got out of the habit of making my own and in to the habit of sleeping in later than usual. So far I'm on day two of no Starbucks and it sucks!

2. Go to Zumba at least 2 times a week.
-I was on a walk a few weeks ago and discovered there was a Zumba class going on. For months, I have been saying I wanted to get back in to doing Zumba again and fate had it in store for me. It is a great workout and a lot of fun so I am very excited for this goal!

3. Take care of myself.
-I have always been someone who likes to make money and there are a lot of job opportunities right now to make extra money. However, I am exhausted. School, work, extra hours, etc. are killing my energy. I want to make sure I am taking care of myself this month and allowing myself to say no.

I really wanted to have more goals, but this is me trying to take care of myself and not put too much pressure on myself.

What are you working towards this month?
