Summer Plans

Seeing as I was in school till the end of June, my summer is finally starting and this is what I have planned.

1.) Go to a concert

Gavin Degraw- This is how I kicked off my first day of summer! It was such a blast and I would pay to see it again. Mary Lambert, Matt Nathanson, and this guy! Just perfect to kick the summer off!!

2.) Camping

I do live in the state of Washington now so I should experience what camping is like here, right?
I am crossing this off the list at the end of July. Fingers crossed the boy survives--he thought we could sleep in the back of his car instead of a tent; he prefers glamping if you know what I mean.

3.) Bonfire and Barbecue

My man keeps talking about these epic bonfires he throws but I have yet to experience it. I am making him show me how great of a bonfire he throws and making him grill me some delicious burgers.

4.) Harry Potter World

Because my man has a business trip in Florida, he invited me along and part of the benefit of going to a tool convention is also getting to go to Harry Potter World! To say I am excited is an understatement. It's only been a dream of mine and I get to experience it with my man!

I am sure I will do much more this summer, but these are just a few of the things I am making sure to accomplish.

Summer Bucket-List: Gavin Degraw

While this was not officially on my first summer-to-do list, I am adding it.
I started summer early with a free Jon McLaughlin and Gavin Degraw concert.
Yeah, you hear me, FREE!

Can I just say how much I love Gavin?! The man sounds exactly the same live as he does on his cd's and he's funny. I went with my two best friends and we had a blast singing the songs while it rained. Yep, we are troopers! We stood outside in the rain the entire time, no umbrellas or rain jackets.

Gavin played all the best-known songs and even did some covers. Jon was awesome as well. As a Raven Alum, I appreciated his shout-out to the Anderson Ravens which proceeded in all the AU students around us screaming at the top of our lungs. It was also fun to point out Jon McLaughlin's wife just because I have seen her on campus five feet away from me before.
I felt like an insider.

While it's not quite summer yet, I say start your list now! Welcome in that weather early!

Reading List

I have been finding a lot of books that I cannot wait to read this summer.
Here's what I plan on spending my free-time doing:

 Columbine by Dave Cullen
Since high school, I have spent once a year reading about Columbine and the tragic event. I think I am just curious of the thoughts that went through the two students heads as they planned this event and the aftermath. It may sound grim, but I guess its just my way of preparing myself for the type of people I may encounter when I receive my counseling license.

The Westboro Baptist Church has created so much controversy over the last couple of years and I am looking forward to hearing the thoughts of an individual who once was one and now lives on the outside of it.

I read about this book in a magazine and I was instantly drawn to it. This mother celebrates her last days with her family and chooses joy over sorrow. It is sure to be an inspirational book.

This book intrigued me because it was written by a girl who is my age. Yeah, she got a book published out of writing something for fun which is something I have always inspired to do.

It's about your first love, how can you go wrong with it?

This is another book about the Columbine tragedy. It looks inside the death of one of the students and how her faith was always present.

Do you have any suggestions of books to add to my summer reading list?

Summer To-Do List

So I have been thinking about this coming Summer and what I will do with my last official Summer Break which means 4 months of no school.

1.) Get a tattoo with my best friend before she moves to California. I have been wanting to get a tattoo for a while now, but my parents made a rule that I do not get piercings or tattoo's while I am in college. Well, I graduate in May and I want my best friend who has multiple tattoo's to be there with me. I am wanting an anchor with either the word love in it or under it. It will represent being anchored in love for me and a sign of my faith.

There are some of the places I've considered getting it.

2.) Simplify my live: I have collected a lot over the years and I have to figure out how to pack up my entire life and possibly fit it into my four door car which means very little can go. Of course, I know my parents will still let me store some of my stuff with them, but I know I have a lot of stuff I do not need.

3.) Bake some of the delicious recipes on Pinterest that I have pinned. When I get to Seattle, I want a cookbook of dishes that are my go to dinners, lunches, or snacks. I already love Million Dollar Spaghetti, but I need more!

4.) Visit the Indianapolis Public Library and Read for as long as necessary. This past summer I stopped into this library for my friend to print her resume and my jaw dropped. The place is huge, has comfy sitting, and has way too much exploring to be done that I have yet to do.

5.) Go to an Indianapolis Indians game. Man, we used to spend our summers going to as many games as possible. I am not that into sports, but get me to a game and I will be hooting and hollering with the rest of them.

Seems like a short list, but I know I will think of more by the time May gets here!
Oh and let me just say Thank You Lord for tax refunds because stress to pay for tuition was just lowered and is easier to pay off by may!
