Welcome to this Blog!

I was so honored to have a spotlight appearance on Angie's Blog this weekend.

It was my first spotlight ever and I am hoping some day when finances are not so tight that I can do that more often.

With that said, I realize I may have had some new visitors to this place and I'd love to let you know more about me.

1.| I am a graduate student studying to get my masters in Counseling Psychology.

I spend most of my days studying between jobs and reading lots of books.

This is the big red building I attend.

I'm in year 3 out of 4 which means this year is filled with studying Psychopathology, practicing counseling on classmates, and gearing up to apply for internships!

2.| I'm from Indiana but moved to Washington!

Both of these places are home to me. My entire family is in Indiana, but I am growing my family in Washington.

3.| I got engaged this year on my birthday!

This man is the love of my life. He is Washington born and bred and I'm the mid-west girl.

We met on a dating app, started dating a month after our first date and have been inseparable since.

4.| Blogging on this site can be sparse some months and very busy other months.

Because my head is typically wrapped up in a book from August until June it can be difficult for me to get the creative side of me rolling. But there are also months where this is the space where I get away from the psychological mindset. I've been blogging for 6 years now and I just have never been one to blog consistently. I try hard to, but I believe this space is more for me than anyone else.

Dear my 16 year old self

Last week I fly back to Indiana to help out with some family situations.

While I was there I finished packing up the rest of my belongings and shipped them back to Seattle. Along the way I found some pretty awesome gems from the past.

This one in particular had everyone laughing.

Dear Rachel,

Today is our 16th Birthday. Also the day you really got your heart broken.

-side comment: I have no idea who broke my heart-

So now I'm writing a note to tell you all I've learned in these last 16 years,

1. Find your true friends-at the current moment they are Shannon, Lizzie, Tessa, Libby and Sarah.

-Only two of the people on this list made the cut-

2. Never let a boy be your life-do you really think he's the one?

-Because at 16 you should only date the boy you're going to marry-

3. God is always first-He's the one who always picks you up after you fall.

4. Mom and Dad are usually right-they have been so far.

-Oh the guts it took to admit this at age 16; I still do not like to admit they are right-

5. Never give up-Promise me you'll always remember you're braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.

6. Believe in yourself-you can do the impossible.

7. Give it your all-you can do amazing things.

8. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8- is your all time verse; it will get you through a lot.

9. You are the champion-you win in everything you do.

Oh thank you to the boy who broke my heart for you lead me to write very inspirational things and very humorous as well.

Rachel, we win in everything we do. Keep being the champion I know you are!

What type of Blogger am I?

I am constantly seeing posts telling readers about who you are and ways to expand your blog.

They are always nice reads and have some great advice, but I often feel like it just does not apply to me. So today, I decided to tell you what type of blogger I am.

I am the type of blogger who will not post consistently. 

Some weeks I will post everyday and other times it's once a month.

I am the type of blogger who does not put pictures on every post.

Call my lazy, but I just do not want to do it sometimes.

I am the type of blogger who does not make money from posting.

Let me be honest, I did try to do this, but it's really hard and not motivating for me to blog.

I am the type of blogger who is often afraid of how others perceive her.

I often feel that the true person I am is not always reflected well on here. I wonder if people think I hate the restaurant industry and customer service or if they judge me for not being an avid church goer like I used to be.

I am the type of blogger who has good intentions of sponsoring but does not have the money to do it.

I want to sponsor, I do, but this budget of mine does not allow room for it. Sorry for all those who disagree with this, but a grad student budget for me does not include blog sponsorship's.

I am the type of blogger who wanted to make this list longer but had trouble thinking of anything after this point.
